HalalEats
Last updated 12 August 2026. Applies to the HalalEats website and the HalalEats
Android and iOS apps (com.rs.halaleats), operated by Reliable Softwares.
We ask for an email, a name and a password so you can contribute. We keep what you contribute — places, reviews, photos, halal confirmations — because that is the product. There are no analytics, no advertising and no trackers, and we do not sell or share your data with data brokers. Your location is used to find food near you and is never stored.
Account. Your email address, display name, and a password stored only as a bcrypt hash — we never see or store the password itself. Optionally a city and country if you enter them. We also record when your account was created and when you last logged in.
What you contribute. Restaurants you add, reviews and star ratings you post, halal confirmations you vote, delivery links you attach, photos you upload, and your saved places. Your trust score is calculated from these.
Location. With your permission, your device's location is used to show restaurants near you and to centre the map when you add a place. Coordinates are sent with that search request so the server can sort by distance, and are not written to our database or tied to your account. Declining location permission only means you search by city or map instead.
Photos. Photos you upload are stored as you sent them. Photo files can contain embedded camera metadata, including the location where the photo was taken — we do not currently strip it, so please avoid uploading photos you would not want published.
Technical. Our host records standard server request logs (IP address, timestamp, page requested) for security and abuse prevention.
HalalEats is a community map, so contributions are public by design. Your display name appears next to your reviews and on the leaderboard alongside your trust score. Places, photos, ratings and halal confirmations are visible to everyone.
Your email address, your saved places and your location are never shown publicly.
We use a small number of services to run the app. We do not sell personal data, and none of these are advertising or analytics providers.
We may disclose data if legally required to.
Access or correction. Email us and we will send you a copy of your account data or correct it.
Deletion. Delete your account yourself at halaleats.pages.dev/delete-account — it removes your email, name, password, saved places and leaderboard entry immediately. Because contributions are community data others rely on, places you added, photos, reviews and halal confirmations stay on the map, credited to "Deleted user". Want those removed too? Email us before deleting, while we can still identify them as yours.
Location. Revoke the permission in your browser or device settings at any time; the app keeps working.
Depending on where you live you may have additional rights under the GDPR or similar laws, including the right to object to processing and to lodge a complaint with your data-protection authority.
We keep account data until you ask us to delete it. Passwords are hashed with bcrypt and all traffic is served over HTTPS. No service can promise perfect security, but we do not store payment details and never ask for them.
HalalEats is not directed at children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect their data. If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will remove it.
If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of this page. Material changes will be announced in the app.
